Feasts

Our parish celebrates its annual Titular Feast, on the Sunday following December 8th. The feast will commence on Wednesday. In 2023, the feast days start on December 6th and conclude on December 10th. A group of 58 individuals, known as the “Presudenti Samooham,” organizes the feast celebrations.

The feast of St Joseph, falls on March 19th. The most notable attraction of this feast is the “Nercha Sadya” (Vow Banquet), prepared and distributed to 5000 people. Its a significant religious celebration in Western Christianity. It honors Saint Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus Christ and husband to the Virgin Mary. This day is marked by special church services, feasts, and traditions in many Catholic and Christian communities worldwide. Saint Joseph is revered for his unwavering faith, humility, and his role in protecting and providing for the Holy Family. People use this occasion to reflect on the virtues of Saint Joseph and seek his intercession for guidance and blessings.

The Feast of St. Jude, is a solemn religious observance dedicated to St. Jude Thaddeus, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. Celebrated on October 28th in the Roman Catholic calendar, it is a day of special veneration and prayer. St. Jude is considered the patron saint of desperate or seemingly impossible causes, and his intercession is sought for healing, hope, and solutions to challenging situations. Devotees often participate in Masses, processions, and novenas, invoking St. Jude’s powerful aid.

The Feast of Our Lady of Velankanni, is celebrated at St. Joseph’s Chapel, Pashnithode. The main feast day falls on the Sunday following September 8th, starting on the preceding Friday.

At this chapel, two feasts are celebrated annually: the Feast of Infant Jesus in January and the Feast of Our Lady in May.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, is always celebrated on the Sunday following the parish titular feast.

Feast of St Jacob, is celebrated in two chapels of the parish: St. Jacob’s Chapel and St. James Chapel.
