Franciscan Immaculatine Sisters (FIS)

The Franciscan Immaculatine Sisters (FIS) is a congregation founded in Italy in 1881 by Fr. Lodovico Acernese. Inspired by the examples of St. Francis of Assisi and Bl. Teresa Manganiello, FIS follows Marian and Franciscan spirituality.

The congregation is dedicated to the education of children and youth, especially young women, as well as catechetical instruction, pastoral assistance in parishes, missionary work, and social assistance aligned with the needs of the Church.

In 1991, FIS expanded to India, where they now have 12 communities across different states. The Delegation Seat and formation house of the congregation are located in Edakochi, along with a Nursery School run by the religious community.

Under the guidance of Mary, Queen of the Apostles, they strive to revive faith and spread charity, catering to the changing needs of society.

With 17 active religious communities in the Indian Province (Holy Family), the Pallottine Sisters engage in various apostolate activities such as education, healthcare, orphanages, HIV-positive centers, pastoral care, social work, and elderly care.

Their unwavering commitment to love and serve all of God’s children remains at the core of their compassionate endeavors.

As Pallottine Sisters, our apostolate knows no bounds, adapting to the changing needs of the times and the Church. We serve in diverse areas, including education, healthcare, orphanages, HIV-positive centers, pastoral care, social work, and care for the elderly.

Our mission continues, driven by our unwavering commitment to love and serve all of God’s children.

St Catherine Convent

The Union of St. Catherine of Siena, School Missionaries is a Dominican religious Congregation founded in 1924 by Venerable Mother Luigia Tincni in Italy.

Inspired by the Dominican friars, Luigia dedicated her life to God’s service, focusing on truth and charity. She founded the congregation to evangelize culture and named it after her spiritual mother, St. Catherine of Siena.

The congregation, aggregated to the Dominican Order, emphasizes the contemplation of truth flowing into action. Luigia recognized the plight of disoriented youth and centered her mission around Christian formation through education.

To maintain secrecy and reach diverse situations, she allowed external signs of consecration to be optional.

Today, the congregation’s faithful daughters continue Luigia’s vision, serving in Italy, Poland, Pakistan, and India, evangelizing culture through their dedicated mission. Luigia Tincani passed away on May 31st, 1976, leaving behind a legacy of truth and charity.

St Augustine’s Monastery & Seminary

The Augustinian way of life in India dates back to 1572 when Portuguese Augustinian Fathers arrived in the country. They established numerous houses, seminaries, orphanages, and educational institutions, leaving a significant impact on the Catholic Church. However, in 1663, the Augustinians, like other religious congregations, were forced to leave due to suppression by the Portuguese government.

In 1982, efforts to re-establish the Augustinian Order in India began. The first monastery was erected in the Diocese of Cochin, and the main purpose was to live harmoniously in prayer and scripture reading. Today, the Order of St. Augustine has over 28 provinces in 48 countries, with more than 4,000 priests.

In Cochin, the St. Augustine’s Seminary at EdaKkchi stands as a restorative effort to preserve the historical legacy of the Augustinians in India. The monastery, inaugurated in 1982, emphasizes the formation of young Augustinians and provides spiritual assistance to the faithful of the locality through St. Antony’s chapel in Edakochi

Pratiksha Bhavan (Rosary Convent)

The Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Santa Maria of the Rosary was founded in 1895 by Fr. Didaco Bessi in Iolo, Italy. He was deeply devoted to the Holy Eucharist and Mother Mary, embodying Dominican spirituality in action. Inspired by his exemplary life, five girls joined him to serve the suffering, leading to the formation of the religious institute on September 8, 1895.

The institute’s pillars included devotion to the Eucharist, contemplation of the Word of God, and a profound love for Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Under Fr. Bessi’s guidance, the sisters aimed to recognize God’s face in the marginalized.

Despite challenges, the congregation persevered and expanded its mission, eventually reaching India and other countries. They continue to serve in 32 communities across six nations, guided by their founder’s enduring values: love for the Eucharist, the Word of God, and devotion to Mary. The congregation’s work stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness and their commitment to humanity.

The present building at Edakochi will be inaugurated on 18th November which will be named Pratheeksha Bhavan. It is a Psychosocial rehabilitation center for women.

Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.”
